The multicultural city sits along Yonge Street from Major Mackenzie north to Crosby Avenue and has become one of the country’s fastest growing communities in recent years.

Richmond Hill’s wealthy population – making up about 50% of its residents – have diverse backgrounds. The minority, predominantly made up of Chinese and South East Asian, makeup close to half of the population. It is no surprise that Richmond Hill is truly calm and serene. The David Dunlap Observatory is one of the famous landmarks in Richmond Hill. Home to Canada’s largest telescope, it is an ideal place for astronomical observatory, school trips and even drop-in nights. Other notable landmarks are the Richmond Hill Public Library and the Richvale Library.

The city also offers plenty of fun; from Wilcox Lake to art studios, from the Richmond Hill Golf Club to the city’s many parks.

With over 130 stores, Hillcrest Mall is Richmond Hill’s largest shopping mall. The mall is home to a food court as well as a variety of kiosks where you can grab a cup of coffee, fresh juice or even have your fill on your favourite snack. Hillcrest Mall is also the place to go if you are in need of a mobile phone while visiting the community; you can secure a pay-as-you-go plan.

If local boutique shopping appeals more, you can head to downtown Richmond Hill, along Yonge Street, where you would find a plethora of shops.

Richmond Hill Infrastructure and Amenities

As one of Canada’s fastest growing communities since the 1990’s, Richmond Hill has experienced tremendous growth in amenities, infrastructure and commerce. Three community-managed recreational parks – North Shore Parkette, Sunset Beach Park and Jesse Venek Park – currently line the shores of Wilcox Lake. These parks make for amazing sightseeing venues, and you can even organize a family picnic there.

The Lois Hancey Aquatic Center is another exciting attraction for families. It is the only indoor wave pool in the GTA, where children and adults alike can enjoy bodysurfing, water mat plays, riding the 160-foot water slide, and hours of swimming.
